01 / WHEN

The noise tells you how long you have left

Brakes give warning before they fail. Knowing which noise is which is the difference between a pad set and a pad, rotor and caliper set.

Warning

Squealing

The wear indicator is a small metal tab designed to touch the rotor and make exactly that noise. It means you have pad left, but not much. Book it this month.

Urgent

Grinding

The pad material is gone and the backing plate is cutting the rotor. This is no longer a pad job. Stop putting it off.

Uneven

Pulling to one side

Usually a sticking caliper or a collapsed flex hose. One side is doing more of the work than the other, which is also a tire-wear problem.

Hydraulic

A pedal that sinks

Air or a leak in the hydraulic system, or a failing master cylinder. This one is not a wait-and-see.

01 — MEASURED

Pads, rotors and hardware checked

We measure pad thickness and rotor runout rather than eyeball them. That is what decides whether rotors get turned, replaced, or left alone — and it is why the quote does not change halfway through.

02 — REPLACED

Fitted, torqued and bedded in

Hardware and slides get cleaned and greased, not reused dirty, because a seized slide is what kills the next set early. Everything torqued to spec, then bedded in properly before you get the keys.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How much does a brake job cost?

It depends on whether the rotors survive. A pad set on its own is the cheap end; pads, rotors and hardware is the common one. We measure first and quote the whole thing before anything comes apart, so the number does not move.

How long do brake pads last?

Anywhere from 25,000 to 70,000 miles depending on how you drive and what you drive. Town driving, towing and heavy vehicles all shorten it. The noise matters more than the mileage.

Do rotors have to be replaced with the pads?

Not always. If they measure within spec and run true, they can stay. If they are below minimum thickness or warped, new pads on old rotors will not bed properly and you will be back.

Can I just get the fronts done?

Yes, and fronts usually wear faster because they do most of the stopping. We will tell you what the rears measure so you know how long you have on them.
